Free spray day for Mallee farmers

NATIONAL peak industry body GrainGrowers are teaming up with the Birchip Cropping Group to stage a free spray application for Mallee producers on Tuesday.

The workshop will be headed by Craig Day from Spray Safe & Save, who has been running spray application workshops for almost 30 years.

Mr Day is a leading chemical spray application expert and one of the most highly sought after trainers in Australia.

Mallee grain growers can hear his message at Birchip in a workshop covering best-practice spray application.

Issues include nozzle selection, surfactants, pressures, spray quality, ISO standard, water quality, weather conditions, inversions, weather monitoring technology, spray planning – standard, pulse width modulated/3TS,

Also on the agenda is fence line spraying including best practice, hormesis and sub-lethal dosing consequences, decontamination best-practice protocols, catch points, and managing spray jobs to minimise risk.

The workshops are limited to 35 participants and registrations are necessary.

There is also the opportunity for local farmers to book an additional 1:1 on-farm visit with Mr Day on February 13 next year, with assistance in formulating personalised spray plans as well as testing/calibration and finetuning of machines on offer.
