Buronga visit for flood grants team

A SPECIALISED team of flood recovery grant assessors will arrive in Wentworth Shire this month to assist residents, businesses owners and primary producers with grant applications.

NSW Reconstruction Authority Riverina Murray Region acting director Linda Thomas said affected communities will have access to the support service.

“The grants team has proven successful at connecting individuals, families, farmers and business owners with financial assistance through face-to-face appointments,” she said.

“The specialised grant assessors work step-by-step with people and take them through the process of applying for grants and what documentation is required for an application to be approved.”

The flood recovery grant assessors will be at 6 Midway Drive, Buronga, for a grant support session on Monday, April 17, between 2pm and 7pm; and Tuesday, April 18 between 9am and 1pm.

The applications the team will help residents with include Disaster Relief Grants; Primary Producers Recovery Grants; Rural Landholder Support Package; Small Business & Not-for-profit Organisations Support Grants; Back Home Grants; and the Rental Support Scheme.

Wentworth Shire Council Mayor Tim Elstone said the grant sessions were a great opportunity for local flood-affected residents to talk to specialists about what funding is available.

“I encourage all those affected to take advantage of the sessions,” Cr Elstone said.

Flood-affected individuals, business owners and primary producers can book an appointment through Service NSW.
