Leadership program ‘next gen’s nursery’

MALLEE Sustainable Farming is expanding from being an industry-leading organisation to becoming the nursery of agriculture’s next generations of leaders.

Targeting people aged 18-30, MSF’s Emerging Leadership Program is a five-day leadership development initiative designed for young adults who are passionate about creating thriving futures in the Victorian Mallee communities through collective leadership.

Even better, the MSF program is being facilitated by another industry leader – the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) – under the Future Drought Fund’s Helping Regional Communities Prepare for Drought Initiative.

It aims to foster self-awareness, community engagement, resilience, leadership skills and the ability to create positive change while considering diverse perspectives and community wellbeing in the context of future droughts and climate change.

MSF managing director Jenny Garonne says they are looking for people with a desire to set goals for their future and contribute to their community, the program providing practical skills in leadership, communication, managing change and networking.

“Mallee Sustainable Farming is proud to work with FRRR and the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, leveraging their expertise and networks that span remote, rural and regional Australia,” Jenny says.

“Together we are committed to empowering our community and facilitating positive changes that make a lasting impact.”

The program will be held as two 2.5-day sessions on June 12-14 and July 15-17 at Pine Plains Lodge, Big Desert.
