The 2023 Australian Rice Growers’ Conference to be held in Griffith on August 10-11 is shaping as an outstanding event, with an exciting line-up of speakers.
Hosted by Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia, SunRice Group and AgriFutures Australia, the conference will not only promote discussion on the big issues for the rice industry but will also offer some interesting new perspectives.
A full conference program highlights engaging and innovative speakers and trade exhibits as well as plenty of opportunities for networking.
Sessions will focus on adopting agtech, business risk management, tax and succession; as well as the big-picture economic outlook and projections for the rice industry, including the latest in rice breeding and sustainability.
The keynote address will be delivered by Tim Jarvis AM, environmental scientist, adventurer, author and film maker who has completed several unsupported expeditions to the world’s most remote regions, including the South Pole.
Tim is well known for his historically authentic recreations of the Antarctic survival journeys of heroic-era explorers Sir Douglas Mawson and Sir Ernest Shackleton.
Committed to finding pragmatic solutions to major environmental issues relating to climate change and biodiversity loss, Tim has many roles including as the founder and leader of The Forktree Project and vice-president of Sir David Attenborough’s charity Flora and Fauna.
With so much happening with agriculture in the carbon-neutrality and net-zero space, the conference organisers are very excited to welcome Professor Richard Eckard to discuss his research on carbon farming and accounting towards carbon-neutral agriculture.
Professor Eckard’s work has made him a trusted advisor to the Victorian, Australian, New Zealand, UK and EU governments, the International Livestock Research Institute and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.
In 2021, his knowledge and work were recognised when he was named on the Reuters list of the world’s 1000 most influential climate scientists.
