Young farmers had a ball

It was a packed house at the second annual formal event for the Birchip Cropping Group Young Farmer Network Ball in Swan Hill last week, picking up where the highly successful sold-out event in 2024 left off.

Featuring live music by That Guy, the crowd also heard from guest speakers Chloe Kelly, the founder and winemaker at Joy John Wines on balancing business, family, and leadership in the industry, and Katrina Myers, from Barham Avocados, an agricultural entrepreneur and advocate for rural communities.

A BCG spokesperson said the ball has quickly evolved as a “celebration of the dedication and leadership within our agricultural community and encourages stronger social support and collaboration to build drought preparedness”.

“It is also a perfect opportunity to connect with the agricultural industry, strengthen local networks and spark conversations about innovative ways to prepare for the future.”
