Crafts of all sorts

THERESE Jolly is responsible for adding a feminine touch to the Mallee Machinery Field Days.

She’s been involved with organising and co-ordinating the craft and interest tent for many years.

As she was growing up, her parents were heavily involved with the Speed Lions Club.

Her father was a member of the club, while her mother used to assist with the craft and interest tent.

While her parents have since retired and left the area, Ms Jolly says it was only fitting that she should follow in their footsteps.

“It’s nice to be able to do something my mother did and follow in her footsteps.

“It’s lovely to be able to get in there and help.”

Ms Jolly says she values the work of the Lions and it is a great organisation that makes a world of difference.

“It’s for such a good cause,” Ms Jolly says.

“The Lions is such a good organisation which helps so many charities.”

Ms Jolly says it was an advantage to have an event of such scale so close to home.

“The field days is a big social outing for the whole community.

“It’s an excuse to get together and for some people it’s the only time they get to catch up for the whole year.”

She says the success of the event could be attributed to the fact the event appealed to everyone.

“It’s an event for the whole family, mums, dads, grandparents and kids,” she says.

“It always draws a big crowd.”

She has enjoyed finding different exhibitors and over the years had met lots of people, forming some close connections and friendships at the field days.

Ms Jolly, who has been involved with the craft and interest tent for many years, says it’s important to ensure it remains relevant with lots of variety.

“You can’t just think about what you would like in there,” she says. “There really will be something for everyone.”

The tent will feature lots of new exhibitors with a range of products on display including handmade bags, homewares, clothing, candles, flowers, games, toys, essential oils, garden decor and art.

“You have to remain open minded and make sure you have lots of different things which will appeal to a large audience,” Ms Jolly says.
