Bringing smiles to faces

JADE Barr started her face-painting business last year, while completing Year 12.

Combining her love of art with her passion for make-up artistry, Jade worked hard to set up her business, noting she was inspired by her grandmother, who encouraged her along the way.

“I’ve always loved make-up and art was my favourite subject at school,” Jade said.

Since graduating, the teenager has turned her passion into a part-time role and she’s featured at many local events, including the Murrabit markets, Swan Hill Market Day, Moulamein yabby races and Lake Boga markets.

In a few short months, she’s built a large following and is heavily booked for birthday parties and private functions.

Jade loves bringing her creations to life and experimenting with new ones.

During her spare time, the self-taught artist enjoys researching techniques and colour combinations.

“I’ve never really thought of it as a job,” Jade says, proving if you choose a job you love, you will never have to work a day in your life.

“This is a thing now, but I still don’t consider it work.”

This year will mark Jade’s first exhibit at Mallee Machinery Field Days and she’s looking forward to the experience.

With a range of designs to choose from, Jade says her unicorn design was a crowd favourite.

Jade believes you’re never too old to have your face painted and has had lots of requests from people of all ages.

“I’ve recently attended a 30th birthday party with just adults,” she says.

Jade will feature in the art and craft tent throughout the two-day event.
