North West Farmer (NWF) is looking for farmers at the cutting edge, and looking for the farmer who could be our first Farmer of the Year.
And at the same time, we also want to find the region’s stand-out Junior on the Farm.
So, if you’re in the Mallee, or surrounding areas covered by the NWF circulation area (north and south of the Murray) you’re eligible to enter.
ENG Media representative Rob Duffield says the inaugural awards are planned as the first step towards building the Farmer of the Year into a major industry celebration of the diverse and innovative agricultural environment in the NWF circulation area.
Rob says since NWF was relaunched in July 2022, it has quickly established itself as a high-profile, locally-produced feature publication inserted into Mildura’s Sunraysia Daily, Swan Hill’s The Guardian and Kerang’s Gannawarra Times each month.
He says nominations for both categories close at 5pm on Friday, March 31, 2023.
“Entry for the NWF Farmer of the Year simply requires the nominee to complete an award questionnaire, which will be emailed once your nomination has been accepted,” he says.
“In the Junior on the Farm category – open to youngsters on farms, aged 14 and under – nominees are asked to submit a video and/or series of photographs showcasing their role on the farm.
“A $2000 cash prize will be awarded to the winner of the 2023 NWF Farmer of the Year recipient and $1000 cash prize will be awarded to the winner of the 2023 NWF Junior on the Farm.
“We have some exciting plans for the future of the awards and are hoping to see a strong initial response on which we can build.”
