THE Carwarp Hall is set to receive some much-needed renovations after the awarding of a State Government grant.
The Carwarp Mechanics Institute recently received just more than $30,000 to deliver the Carwarp Hall Restoration Project through the Tiny Towns Fund, which aims to get community-driven projects going.
Across north-west Victoria, 10 projects received money.
Carwarp Mechanics Institute president Bec Cruise said the funding would be used to restump the hall.
“For us to look after the place and sort of get it up and running again, that was the next major thing that we needed to do,” she said.
“Without this grant, that is a lot of fundraising for a lot of years, so we just thought we would go for it and see if we would get it.”
The community hall is used for a variety of purposes, including being hired out to different groups and organisations for meeting and training days.
It is also used annually to host the Carwarp Community Christmas Party, the hall’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
“It brings everyone together,” Ms Cruise said.
“We are the younger generation that are coming up.
“We thought if we don’t do something about it, it is going to fall down and it won’t get used.”
Carwarp Mechanics Institute treasurer Clay Gowers said they were pleased to be one of the recipients of the grant.
“That’s why these grants are out there, to be utilised by the community,” he said.
Both Mr Gowers and Ms Cruise were hoping the renovations would be completed within the next six to 12 months.
